Creative Writing Ideas

There’s no real secret to learning how to write. At least that’s what they keep telling me at Wealthy Affiliate. I also heard the same at other websites and blogging places that I have affiliated myself with over the past few months.  But so far, it’s doesn’t come easy for me. It seems that with each lesson (at WA), there is another post that is to be written.  My mind is a blank each time, and days go by before I come up with something to write.

Finding Ideas

If you Google “coming up with something to write about,” there’s 2,210,000 in the results. I guess there are a few other people that had a tough time finding things to write about and decided to write about it. LOL, sorry,’ that just sounds funny. “Let’s all write about what to write about.”

When you think about what your biggest fear is, do you automatically think about clowns, heights, snakes, or something along those lines? As a blogger, you should say, your biggest fear is, what do I write? I know I have been terrified lately. I would write about my exciting life here at home since the Covid-19 virus hit the U.S. But that’s all anyone is talking about. The big headline B.C (Before Coronavirus) before that, was the trial of that movie producer guy that sexually assaulted all those women in Hollywood. I can’t for the life of me remember his name right now. I know the Me Too movement was inspired over it, but his name escapes me. Maybe that’s a good thing, cause he’s one that shouldn’t be remembered anyway. Don’t get me wrong, what he did was horrible, and I hope he rots in jail, I just don’t remember his name.

The Grammarly website gives 12 things to write about when you’re out of ideas. One I thought would be entertaining would be to have a conversation with my dog as if she were human. But she passed away in January, and if I did that, I would probably just start crying about losing my bestest friend.

Another good idea that would be to use Google or whatever your browser of preference may be and type in a few words that relate to the topic of your website. For instance, if the niche of my site were about joining Wealthy Affiliate and becoming an independent affiliate marketer, then I would type in a few words about affiliate marketing. Or maybe I wanted to talk about the difficulty of starting a website. The Google auto-fill feature will then have a drop-down that will hopefully give you some ideas.

Wandering Thoughts

Do you sometimes have problems keeping your mind on the task? I’ve been having that problem lately. I have quite a few irons in the fire, and it seems that I need to work on them all at the same time. I also have a crafting business that I need to get back to. There are hopefully several craft sales and bazaars coming up this spring and summer, and I need to get my inventory built back up. But then I tell myself that I still have plenty of time to get them all made.

Yes, I have wandering thoughts that have nothing to do with the task at hand. Sometimes I wonder if I have some sort of attention deficit disorder. I can be talking about one thing and thinking about three other ones. Then out of the blue, I start talking about something totally irrelevant from the present conversation.

Keyword Research Tools

Okay, back to the subject. Sorry about that, I got side-tracked onto something else, and I have no idea what it was. Oh yea, we were talking about trying to find things to talk about to make a post.

From the WA website, there’s access to Jaaxy. This is a highly valuable research tool that can help you find a topic to write about if you’re having trouble. Start by using a broad term and then let Jaaxy help you come up with smaller words like the example used in the photo.

Current Events

Usually, I would say that one could incorporate current events into their postings. But there have been no other recent or current events on the news except the coronavirus pandemic. I’m sure after we get through all of this, people have recovered, and those lost have been properly grieved, we will get back to all of the other crazy things that happen daily in the news.

I know I’m getting off track again, but I don’t miss all of those annoying spam phone calls since the country shut down. No, I don’t want to extend the warranty on my car, I don’t need insurance and that free back brace you wish to send me will not be covered by medicare.  But I’m sure once people get back to work, so will the spammers. Oh boy!

Another one that will be getting off the ground at high speed will be the political advertisements. They just disappeared off my TV a few weeks ago, and you know what? I didn’t miss them.

Back to Normal

Once things have gotten back to being as normal as they will ever be again, it will hopefully be easier to find something to write about. When we’re allowed to interact with people in an up-close and personal way, we will have so many thoughts and ideas that we won’t know what to do with them.

I just know that I will have so many ideas that I will be waking up in the middle of the night just to write them down. HA!

Anyway, I’m told that with time and experience, we will be writing better and better.

I think that by reading the posts of others helps to give me ideas as to how to form my writing style. I tend to write the way I think, and if my thoughts are scattered as they have been all through this post, then I don’t feel that I have a prayer making it as a blogger.

My Apologies

This is probably the worst post ever written, and I apologize for my off the wall ranting. I would promise never to do anything like this again, but I think I’m suffering from cabin-fever and can’t guarantee anything right now. I’ve never been a very social person and thought that this stay-at-home order wouldn’t bother me. But after a month of it, I think I’ve had enough and don’t want to play anymore. I want to go wherever I want when I want. I don’t like wearing a mask or wiping everything off with a Clorox wipe. My parents are driving me absolutely up the wall, and for their safety, I need to get out of this house!

Feel free to leave me a comment below if you can make any sense of any of this.
